EV charger grants explained

The government's OZEV chargepoint grants were extended for a final year and increased to up to £500 per socket from 1 April 2026. Here's who can claim, in plain English, with links to the official pages.

  • OZEV approved installer
  • NAPIT registered
  • Trading since 2013
  • Based in Hexham
Checked against GOV.UK on 31 October 2026. Schemes can change or close early, so always check the official pages linked below. The home grants are not available if you own and live in a house.

Renters and flat owners

  • 75% off the cost of buying and installing a chargepoint socket, up to £500.
  • For people who rent a residential property, or own and live in a flat (including shared ownership).
  • You need private, off-street parking that you have the right to use, and an eligible electric vehicle (owned, leased, company car, or on order).
  • One grant per person. You need written permission from your landlord or freeholder, and a quote from an OZEV-authorised installer.

Residential landlords

  • 75% off the cost, up to £500 per socket, for up to 200 sockets a year across your properties.
  • Open to private landlords, property management companies, RTM/residents' management companies, freeholders, social housing providers, charities and public sector bodies.
  • You must be registered at Companies House or VAT registered, and the parking must be private and off-street.
  • Not available for holiday lets, or where you live in the property. The chargepoint must not be installed before OZEV confirms eligibility.

  • Open to businesses, charities, public sector organisations and small accommodation businesses.
  • Parking must be for staff or fleet use, not just for customers. Have the site surveyed before you apply.
  • There is a separate application form for small businesses run mainly from a home address.
